Storm Anemometer spinning but reading low

PhilT Feb 16, 2019 06:32AM PST

I got my Storm last weekend and setup went fine. Installed on a tall pole away from structures and other obstacles. Rain gauge is working and got results similar to two other weather stations in my neighborhood a couple days ago. Anemometer, however, is spinning but reading much lower than the other nearby stations and much lower than what I expect based upon the action of the trees. Mine reads 3-5mph and no gusts. The station three houses away shows 8-10mph and 25mph gusts (which matches observed tree action).

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello Phil,

Thanks for the post, sounds like you got your device up and running and in the right spot! Great to her. May I ask what you have named the device, I would like to check on this for you. How the STORM calculates windspeed for each transmission is it takes one reading per 10 seconds, every 30 seconds. Then it will average the three and send that data to the app.

Thanks again

Thanks Nick. I have named my unit WeatherPhool. It also appears on wunderground as KNMLOSAL50. You should be able to compare the data to a couple units very close by.

Hello Phil,

Thanks for the follow up. Do you happen to have a screenshot of the issue? It’d be best if it was what you are seeing and not from my computer.

Thanks again

I have a screen shot where mine is showing 2mph when you can see the tail of the neighboring stations are showing 7-10mph. Not sure how to attach images in this forum. Please advise.

Hello Phil,

If you would be able to email me at “”, we could get everything squared away there.
