Vampire Bloomsky 2

Ian Aug 04, 2018 01:33PM PDT

Okay, I am sure my Sky 2 has turned in to a Vampire, why you ask because as soon as the sun comes up it goes offline. But as soon as the sun goes down it comes back online... Yes WTF...
So yesterday that was 6:42am offline then 6:05pm online local time (NZD)

So it appears something to do with the light sensor or camera that is creating this issue, has anyone else had this issue and managed to resolve it.?

This is my second device with the same issue the first was replaced under warranty but the unit is now almost two years old so unlikely to be covered.

And yes have done all the resets etc to no avail... The only way to re-pair the unit is to do it at night or put the unit in a dark cupboard or it will not re-pair.

I have the same issue. Did you ever get an answer from Bloomsky? I haven't messed with it other than reseting it because the device seems to be so flakey I figured it wasn't worth my time. Would love to hear you got this corrected somehow.

Hello Ryan,

Sorry to hear about the issue, this issue normally correlates with some kind of defect with the camera. Camera issues, if they can be resolved, are resolved by a simple power cycle. Go ahead and power it off for a few minutes and then back on.

I have power cycled the Sky 2 multiple times and even done a hard reset. I'm also seeing issues with the Storm not connecting to the dongle. I've tried to do several resets on it with no luck. As of right now I get no wind or rain data and only temp date from night hours 6:30is pm to 6:30ish am almost on the nose every day. I would love any other suggestions you have, I miss my weather updates.

Hello Ryan,

Thanks for the follow up. If you would email me at “” with your SKY name I can check into a couple things. The next troubleshoot we could attempt would be a battery pull for the SKY. When you turn the device upside down there will be 4 larger phillips screws on the outer shell and 4 smaller phillips screws on the inner shell, right underneath that inner shell lies the battery. Unplug the battery for a minute, and then reconnect it. The SKY may behave normally after the reconnection.

Thanks again,
