Storm won't charge (from Sky2 + Storm Kickstarter)

Hi Bloomsky,

My Sky2 + Storm Kickstarter kit just arrived today, thanks! But I'm having an issue with charging Storm.

I've successfully paired Sky and Storm, and can access them on the app. Sky has fully-charged, no issue at all. Storm however is not charging. The Storm battery charge icon on the app has not moved since I first paired it.

Storm is plugged into the dongle via USB, the dongle is powered from the wall wart, and it's connected via ethernet to the router. But no charging. The dongle LED isn't on and doesn't ever come on. Storm's LED flashes red once every 55 seconds or so.

As per another post here, I've tried connecting Storm directly to a USB charger, but that doesn't seem to make any difference either.

Help?!?

Hi Michael;

I have exactly the same problem with my STORM and posted a similar question to the support center as well. In addition to trying to charge through USB I have also tried the solar panel, and no success there either.

What I have noticed when I plug the USB in or out is that I get a quick flash of the red LED on the STORM, perhaps indicating a soldering problem there?

BloomSkyp folks - this looks like either a possible hardware defect. Could you please help?

I’m sorry to hear about the issue, may I ask if the dongle has any reaction at all? It could either be a STORM or a dongle issue. May I also ask what your SKY is named?

The dongle on mine breathes red, but my storm only flashes red once when I plug it into any USB point (laptop, direct USB wall charger) and then nothing, so I can't get further in the setup. I left it in the sun for two days on the solar panel and nothing there either.

I've checked the solar power charging cable seating and it is flush and there are no extra pieces of plastic preventing contact.

The LAN cable connection light at the back will flash from time to time, so I don't think it's the dongle.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! My sky2 ID is malucvdl

Hello Lucy,

Thanks for the information. It sounds like you are doing everything correctly, Please try to plug the USB into the router. What happens when you go to menu—>add new device—>add STORM? Is there any reaction on the dongle?
