IFTTT and "Device detects rain" trigger

William H Apr 28, 2016 02:04PM PDT

Hi,

Recently, I started using the IFTTT service to run an automatic twitter page. However I am having two issues with the "Device detects rain" trigger.

The first issue is that it does not always seem to trigger the action on IFTTT. I get a notification saying that it is raining from the bloomsky app on my phone though.

The second issue is the amount of times it triggers an action on IFTTT. Earlier today, the bloomsky app alerted me once for rain but the actions on IFTTT were triggered six times in a span of thirty minutes (4 of which occurred simultaneously). I am not sure if the trigger is suppose to follow the same requirements that the app does, but if it does not then I personally think it should only trigger once at the beginning of a rain event like on the app. That way if water drips off something onto my station then it does not falsely trigger my set action.

Hello William,

This sounds like a new bug, and I have forwarded it to our engineers.

Thank you so much for the information.

Ok thank you. The first issue that I reported has not happened to me since I reconnected the channel. Hopefully reconnecting the channel fixed it for good.

So with the "Device detects rain" trigger, I see what it is suppose to do and how it can be helpful for some. However, I just need an action triggered at the beginning of a rain event since it currently spams the twitter page that I am running. Is there a possibility that a separate trigger could be made that triggers an action when the bloomsky first detects rain just like with push notifications on the app? I am not sure how to send in a feature request if I need to send one in.
